Privacy Policy

KnowChat ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered document chatbot platform operated by Azeem Haider. We allow you to upload documents and deploy embeddable AI chatbots on your website. For questions about this policy, contact us at azeemhaider0328@gmail.com.

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign up via OAuth (Google, GitHub), we receive the profile data your provider shares.

Documents You Upload

Files you upload (PDF, DOCX, TXT) are stored securely and processed to generate vector embeddings for the chatbot feature. We do not read or sell the content of your documents.

Usage Data

We log message counts per day (to enforce plan limits), total chat counts per chatbot, and standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps). We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your full card number. We receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status only.

• To provide and operate the KnowChat service
• To process your documents and generate AI responses
• To enforce plan limits (message counts, chatbot counts)
• To send transactional emails (password reset, billing receipts)
• To respond to support requests
• To detect and prevent abuse or fraud

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the platform:

• OpenAI — to generate embeddings and AI responses from your documents
• Neon — our PostgreSQL database provider where your data is stored
• Stripe — to process subscription payments
• Resend — to send transactional emails
• Vercel — our hosting provider

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policy and data processing agreements. We do not share your data with any other third party unless required by law.

We retain your account data and uploaded documents for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual documents or your entire account at any time. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data and documents from our systems within 30 days.

Chat conversation logs are retained to provide conversation history within the product and are deleted when you delete the associated document or account.

We use one session cookie issued by NextAuth to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting. No third-party analytics scripts are loaded on our pages.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to certain processing activities

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Database access is restricted to application servers only. We apply security best practices but no system is 100% secure — if you believe there has been a breach, contact us immediately.

KnowChat is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
